If you arrive to Pittsfield early, or would like to stick around after the farm tour, there are several local lunch options to choose from. Pittsfield’s Original General Store is a great place to sit down for a warm meal, fresh juices, cappuccino and good company. If you’ve got a car, take a drive up the Killington access road to get a glimpse of the ski scene. The Sun Up Bakery is a local favorite for freshly baked sandwiches and soups to go. To the north, about 20 minutes up Vermont’s winding scenic route 100, is the quaint town of Rochester, Vermont. We recommend the Rochester Cafe or Sandy’s Book Shop and Bakery. Want to stay a little closer to home? The funky tiny Wild Fern restaurant is open for brunch on weekends (the owner cooks, waits tables, does all the baking and gets to know every customer by name.) The Swiss Farm Market is a great place to pick up a grab and go sandwich made to order right here in town.
